Southern Switch & Contacts has long term contracts with multiple Electrical Utilities throughout the US to re-build/refurbish their air-brake/disconnect switches. The following highlights will demonstrate why many Utilities have chosen to refurbish their disconnect switches as opposed to buying brand new one.

• Refurbished switches provide an approximate 50% cost savings compared to the procurement of brand new switches.

• A majority of old switches are manufactured from high quality bronze, while most new switches are manufactured using Aluminum. When Aluminum comes into contact with stainless steel hardware, it will rust faster than bronze due to the galvanic effect between dissimilar metals.

• Our refurbished switches look brand new and will last longer than new aluminum switches.

• There are no fit up problems with refurbished switches as opposed to new switches that encounter inter-operability problems with existing mountings.

Addition installation and engineering costs resulting from mounting issues caused by the new switches will increase your overall project costs.
